My beginning at T.H.E.O.S. was a blessing that I almost missed. I had heard about this school through friends and church, but I felt that perhaps it wasn’t right for me. Was I wrong! T.H.E.O.S. allows me to do something I love and combine it with my growing faith. I am the lead teacher in the 3rd and 4th grade classroom and also the physical education teacher for 1st – 8th grade.
Even though it is my first year as a classroom teacher at T.H.E.O.S., I am not a stranger to working with children in unique settings. I have worked the past eight summers at Camp Nazareth in Mercer, Pennsylvania, as a counselor for the Carpatho-Rusyn Dioceses. It was there that I learned about T.H.E.O.S. from the Greek Orthodox Metropolis staff and was encouraged to check it out. This is truly a unique school and it is through God’s will that I am able to be here at T.H.E.O.S.
In the 3rd and 4th grade classroom the students work very hard. Whether it be in Math, Language Arts, Science, or Social Studies, the students abilities are being enhanced daily. Through concrete examples and abstract learning, the students build on what they have learned before, and develop a work ethic that will prepare them for the higher grades. The students are also encouraged to become individuals. They are inspired to be who they are and to let their gifts and talents shine through inside and outside the classroom just as God has intended. I am truly blessed to work with an amazing staff and so many bright students day after day and I am looking forward to many years here at T.H.E.O.S.
