Curriculum

“As our children grow older and take their place in society, what will set them apart? It will not be their talent or their temperament, but instead, it will be their character in Christ.” C. Chaney

The T.H.E.O.S. Curriculum is developmentally-appropriate and respects the independence and individuality of each student, while promoting personal development through wisdom and practices of the Orthodox faith. Our strategies are based on the belief that the children learn through direct and personal interaction with their parents, peers, teachers and the learning environment. We believe that respect, cooperation and mutual support among students, parents, staff and community members are critically important to a child’s success in school and must be actively fostered and modeled by all participants.

The Elementary Educational Environment is structured to foster experiential learning in a collaborative setting. Learning materials and activities are designed to engage the child in the process of discovery, allowing each student to acquire a meaningful mastery of academic content.

The Early Childhood Classroom provides opportunities for creative expression, socio-dramatic play and the introduction to content areas such as language arts, math, science, social studies and Orthodox Christian studies. Our early childhood classroom material and activities possess a distinct order which allows each child to choose the tasks that challenge him, help him to grow at his own pace and foster the healthy development of his emerging potential.
